Worth Fighting For

So, now the word coming out of the settlements is that they're demanding the soldiers disobey their orders when it comes to evacuation time. And if they obey those orders, we just may have a civil war on our hands.

And who can blame them? I mean, here is a minor section of our population that has been living on the dole for a good long time and now the majority is saying "enough is enough". It would certainly get me mad.

There's a huge uproar because the government is saying they don't have the money to pay municipal workers' salaries. And yet...you don't hear about that happening in the settlements. Down south around Be'er Sheva they don't have enough doctors to care for all the people. That doesn't happen in the settlements.

Ninety-nine percent of the terrorist attacks happen inside the Green Line. Not in the settlements.

Oh...and taxes? Well, they don't pay 'em over there.

So if someone threatens to take all that away from you, you're probably not going to take it lightly.

Well, you know what? I'm tired of it.

Let the games begin.

Shalom Charley. It defies the imagination! A serious intelligent person like yourself spreading total falsehoods with even checking your facts. Although I will admit, that unlike a normal western democracy which have "Freedoom of Information" laws, it is harder to obtain the facts.

To what am I alluding? Where have I and my community been on the "dole"? The Regional Council of Benyamin receives the same amount of money the Regional Council of Western Galil or Emek Hefer receives - no more no less. And if you really want to add up the additional monies spent on security, check the Ministry of Defense budgets for the past ten years ... add up the amount of money spent on Yesha for the past ten years, and it doesn't begin to arrive at 5% of the initial cost (not operating cost) of the current "security Fence".

But okay - its a moral crime to invest in defending "settlers"? Maybe we shouldn't invest in shelters for Manara or Yad Mordechai.

But the most interesting item on the defense budget is the reinforcement of the Kennest against what? Motar shells! Tell me Charley, how far away can a motar hit a target? 5km If its a 120mm maybe more? Against whom are our parlimentarians getting ready to protect themselves? Mivaseret? Or maybe Beit Jala, East Jerusalem?

Looking forward to your response!
